5 Things I Learned While Visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

disclosure

I recently visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom as part of a media function through the Disneynature Monkey Kingdom Event and opinions expressed in this post are that of my own.

5 Things I Learned about Disney's Animal Kingdom!

I have to admit than when it comes to Disney Parks, I have always been a Magic Kingdom kind of gal. When my family visits, our goal is to make it to Cinderella’s Castle, see Its A Small World, ride Dumbo, and explore our usual stops at “Mickey’s House”.

However after a recent visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, I now feel more confident taking my family to this park and being able utilize it many amenities.

Since I did learn so much during my trip, I figured it may be helpful to shed some light on this Disney property for others. In addition, I went with a group of bloggers and thought it would be fun to share their views as well.

1. Wilderness Explorers – I had no idea that this program existed at the park. Inspired by the film UP, this is the only way I would want to explore the grounds with my kids in the future. There is a handbook with a map to guide, stickers AKA badges to keep once you finish a task, and you even get to learn all sorts of interesting details about animals. Did I mention it is FREE with park admission? My kids and I are definitely doing this on our next trip.

Backstage Tales at Disney's Animal Kingdom!

2. Backstage Tales Tour – Interested in the history of Animal Kingdom and all of their Conservation efforts. This tour gives you a behind the scenes view of the park, its animals, and lots of interesting details.

My Boys and Their Toys did an excellent job of detailing this here Inspire Your Love for Animals with the Animal Kingdom Backstage Tales Tour as well as Home Grown Families Backstage Tales Tour at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. There is an additional charge for this experience.

3. Dine With An Animal Specialist at SANAA in Animal Kingdom Lodge – If you are an animal enthusiast, or just like to eat delicious foods, then this is an encounter for you. Plus you know what is really neat, you do not have to stay at the resort or visit a park to participate (however you might just want to anyway).

4. Wild Africa Trek Experience – Imagine being hooked up via harnesses and walking on a rope bridge above African Crocodiles.  How about visiting Hippos just a ledge away, seeing large Giraffes roaming the savanna, or dining on gourmet safari foods. Let’s just say that this is an adventure of a lifetime.

Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort

5. Animal Kingdom Lodge – OK I have to admit something again, I knew very little about this resort if anything at all. However after checking out the events calendar, it is truly a destination within itself. This Lodge is located right outside the park and has 2 pools, plenty of hands on activities, and even a bead collection program for certain completed attractions.

Don’t just take my word for it, here are 2 articles that can fill you in on the details: 5 Things that Surprised Me about Animal Kingdom Lodge by Virtually Yours and Into the ♥ of the Animal Kingdom Lodge by Home Grown Families.

Now that I know all this about Disney’s Animal Kingdom, I am excited to explore the park again and hope to one day to stay with my family at the Lodge.

About Disneynature Monkey Kingdom:

Life is an adventure for Maya, the clever and resourceful blonde-bobbed monkey in “Monkey Kingdom,” Disneynature’s new feature film set among ancient ruins in the storied jungles of South Asia. Maya’s world is forever changed when she welcomes her son, Kip, into her complicated extended family. Like all families, Maya’s has more than its share of colorful personalities—and she’s determined to give her son a leg up in the world. When their longtime home at Castle Rock is taken over by powerful neighboring monkeys, Maya’s whole family retreats, and she uses her street smarts and ingenuity to uncover untapped resources amidst strange new creatures and unsettling surroundings.

Ultimately, they will all have to work together to reclaim Castle Rock, where Maya can hopefully realize her dreams for her son’s future.
